About
Rock Ferry 3rd Rock Chardonnay
Chardonnay is the world’s most popular variety – this chardonnay comes from the Corners Vineyard in Marlborough. Chardonnay styles have evolved over the last decade or so from New Zealand – the aim is to make a Chardonnay with elegance, power and restraint. The fruit is supported by fine acidity and framed by some very good oak. A Chardonnay that speaks quietly, elegantly and succinctly.
The hand harvested grapes were whole bunch pressed. The cloudy juice was then racked the following day to a French oak cuve for the natural fermentation to start. It was then transferred to French barriques (25% new) for spontaneous malolactic fermentation to start in the spring. The wine was then racked before fining with organic milk, filtered then bottled.
